The easiest and most convenient way to search for public records is through the County Clerk’s official records search at https://denton.tx.publicsearch.us/. Select the type of document you want to view on the dropdown menu. This site does a great job of organizing property records, marriage, birth, death, foreclosure, and commissioners court records.
Property deeds can also be viewed on this site. Deeds are used to transfer ownership of a property from one party to another. To look up deeds, type in “deeds” in the search bar along with “real property” in the dropdown menu. Yet other property records available online are property tax records, found through the Denton County Tax Office at https://www.dentoncounty.gov/732/Tax-Office.
Mugshots, which can be found on arrest reports, are available at the records inquiry website at
https://justice1.dentoncounty.gov/PublicAccess/default.aspx. Keep in mind mugshots are only available on some arrest records, and you can only find an arrest report if you know the defendant’s name or booking number.
If none of these online web pages have what you need, you can visit the county’s homepage and scroll to the bottom of the page to find meeting notes and permits. You can also submit an open record’s request per Texas’ Public Information Act. This act allows people to submit an email, handwritten request, or in-person request for government records, provided they’re already in existence.
You can fax, email, or mail the public information request form found here:
https://www.dentoncounty.gov/DocumentCenter/View/522/Public-Information-Request-Form-PDF to your appropriate Denton County elected official or Department Head. For general questions on where to submit your public information request, contact the Denton County District Attorney’s Office – Civil Division at 940.349.2750.
